I sorta forgot to release ranks last week, oops. But I guess I couldn’t call myself a PST content creator if I didn’t let everyone down now and then, could I?
Power Ranks:
I’ll be using both weeks results for these ranks.
- Zend (Previous: 1)
Record: 10–2
Results: 3–1
Zend dropped a game for only the second time this season in a series tie with Pneuma last week, but they did sweep StonedSpirit in a closer than expected series. Honestly I was considering dropping them a spot in favor of Pneuma just to add some drama to the ranks… but they are still the strongest team, and will probably go into playoffs ranked in the top spot. Plus OneDay sends me nice messages in discord. - Pneuma (Previous: 4)
Record: 9–3
Results: 3–1
Pneuma has been pretty steadily climbing in these rankings all season; I initially put them low because I genuinely knew nothing about their team (a common theme for that first edition). I wish we could have seen their series against Thrillhouse, but Thrillhouse FF’ed for unclear reasons. So I’m gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and put them at #2. The Pneuma team is very similar to Zend in construction. And that’s strange, because higher medal supports/lower medal cores usually don’t lead to success in RD2L. But this season has been all sorts of weird. - Thrillhouse (Previous: 3)
Record: 8–4
Results: 2–2
This team has had some drama. Not internal (at least I don’t think), but external. I remember a team FF’ed a series because they used random picks? And then they FF’ed against Pneuma, because (in Thrillhouse’s words): “team didn’t want to play”. Well, I’m not gonna speculate on all that. But the fact remains… when they do play, they play very well. Hopefully these forfeit issues will be resolved soon. - Neku (Previous: 12)
Record: 8–4
Results: 4–0
This team is making my brain feel smoother than polished granite. They’ve jumped up and down in these rankings all season; what’s that Office quote? Snip snap snip snap. Sorry for that imagery, but seriously what is up with you guys? I can’t even hit the copium and say your schedule has been weak. They just beat CRAP, who I’ve had as my #1 team for a majority of the season. Who knows if it will last (they play Zend this week) but I guess enjoy it. Do people actually enjoy being ranked highly? I feel like I would. But at the same time if the author had been making terrible takes for 6 weeks straight I’d probably stop taking anything they write seriously… - CRAP (Previous: 2)
Record: 7–5
Results: 1–3
Has this team started a downward spiral? They need to right the ship fast if they want to remain in the top 5. They’ve gone 1–3 against Yfu and Odyssey teams, so maybe they just have a weakness against top immortals. But they also got swept by Zend the week before, so idk. They will still make playoffs, presumably. I really don’t think they will drop further, but I’ve been wrong before… - StonedSpirit (Previous: 5)
Record: 6–6
Results: 0–4
StonedSpirit has easily had the hardest strength of schedule of any team this season. That’s why they get to be ahead of teams that have better records, for anyone that feels like asking. Most of the teams below them would have (I believe) a worse record than StonedSpirit given those same matchups. - Burgeoning (Previous: 11)
Record: 7–5
Results: 3–1
Burgeoning’s team has finally started to win games. I guess it was only a matter of time until Odyssey figured out how to shoulder his team. They aren’t quite a contender, but I could see them making a deep playoff run just off Odyssey’s mettle. You don’t get immortal 200 by losing, after all. - Yfu (Previous: 8)
Record: 7–5
Results: 2–2
I’m still not completely sold on Yfu’s team… And yes ping me all you want. They swept CRAP but then got swept in return by Thrillhouse. Yfu will probably be able to carry them into playoffs, but it’s not a lock (going by previous seasons they only need to win one game of their next four); although it’s close. - MOCA (Previous: 10)
Record: 7–5
Results: 4–0
Alright so I lied. I can’t just put a team at #1 for letting me have Windranger. Maybe if you had let me have it both games… Regardless, MOCA beat a team that’s hanging on to playoff hopes by a very thin thread, and then beat a struggling Forest Bear squad. I probably could rank them higher, they honestly deserve it… like they’ve been in the 8–10 spots all season. And they’ve played good teams so it’s not like they’ve had a rigged schedule. But I just don’t think they would absolutely beat any of the above teams, and these are power ranks so… - Velvelvel (Previous: 6)
Record: 6–6
Results: 2–2
Honestly pretty sure I’m doing you guys a favor. Every team I drop wins their next series. Vel lost to Pneuma which is totally understandable, but also only beat Doomcow. So I’m pretty hesitant to put much stock in either result. They are still in the playoff race and can climb back up in the ranks fairly quickly. - Bsvhsvj (Previous: 14)
Record: 7–5
Results: 4–0
They caught a lucky break and snagged two free wins from a Gronaldo FF, but also beat Ripley; so this team is suddenly in possession of a playoff spot for the moment. They’ve definitely been pretty under the radar this season. I think they had a pretty bad start, and have been playing catch up since. - Forest Bear (Previous: 9)
Record: 5–7
Results: 2–2
They beat Steven and lost to MOCA. I’ve almost fully lost faith in this team. They had a nice start to the season: even taking a game off Zend — but have been pretty bad since then. They could still make playoffs; I just don’t think they’ll make much noise even if they get there. - Ripley (Previous: 7)
Record: 5–7
Results: 0–4
A rough two weeks for Ripley’s team. They got beat by two other middling teams; significantly reducing their chances for playoffs. You can pretty much copy and paste the Forest Bear blurb here. - Jabinskiz (Previous: 17)
Record 4–8
Results: 2–2
Yeah we haven’t actually won since beating Doomcow in week 2. Gronaldo FF’ed our series lol. We actually had a somewhat close game 1 against MOCA, but I kinda choked and fed like 3 times towards the end. Our playoff dream still lives. We probably should be last but… - Steven (Previous: 13)
Record: 5–7
Results: 2–2
How the mighty have fallen. The former #1 team is now ranked last. Shows what I know. They should honestly be above us, but Rhyzerz bullied me in a pub. Stole my MMR and then fountain dove me. Don’t mess with content creators, am I right everyone? Also it’s just keeping with tradition, we play them this week and the loser is out of playoffs.
Eliminated from Playoff Contention:
(As we get into the closing weeks I’ll write a final blurb about teams that get eliminated from playoffs that week)
- Gronaldo
Man, what a disaster this season has been for Gronaldo. And they looked so promising! I know from personal experience that Gronaldo is one of the better in-game leaders/shotcallers, so I really can’t figure out why it went so poorly. They’ve FF’ed the past two series and I imagine the full team will not be reconvening to play again. Oh well, there’s always next season. - Michael J. Jackson
Yeah I can’t say I’m super surprised, their hero pools were just too small. Teams figured out pretty quick that all you had to do was ban Zoo and you had easy victories. - Doomcow
I think they were actually numerically eliminated by the last ranks, but we’ve all seen this coming for awhile. I’m not sure if this team was ever expected to really compete, even by Doomcow. If I’m not mistaken he friend-drafted and mostly wanted to have fun. I guess if you win RD2L you can be excused for wanting to have fun. I just hope they all did. And hey, at least they didn’t go winless.
